Photoshop and Disk errors
Iris from NY USA, using Photoshop 5.5 with Mac OS9.2, writes in with:
[Quote:] I suddenly cannot open Photoshop because of damage to a disc. Was working on a file that I chaged from RGB to CMYK without flattening.
Disk errors are actually not a Photoshop problem... but they are a problem
If the error said "Disk Error" that means any number of things:
* The disk is full
* Part of the file was written over a corrupt block
* Something interrupted the flow of data
* The recipient disk speed is too variable or slow (as in Zip Disk)
This error really has nothing to do with Photoshop.
If you can help, just comment below! Thank you!

When you try to install the Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 update in Windows, the installer returns the error "Component Move Data had the following error Media Name:data Component File Group: File C:\Docume~1\Owner\Locals~1\Temp\WZSE1.TMP\data1.hdr Error Number: -113 (refer to the online help)."
Okay, I visited about three sites to see whether I can help it or not. I read that you need to extract files. Do that. Help:
1. Download the Adobe Photoshop [mine is 7.0] - Click SAVE not OPEN WITH. I downloaded it here: http://www.brothersoft.com/adobe-photoshop-59748.html
2. When it downloads right-click on the Zip.
3. Choose EXTRACT HERE.
4. Wait until it extracts and then delete the Zip file. [you should have a folder named Photoshop where you extracted the zip.]
5. Okay, empty the recycle bin.
6. Run the Setup file [the icon is a blue computer]
7. The setup should start, otherwise repeat all the above [try another download location.]
8. Fill out name and all of that. The serial i used was: 1045-1209-6738-4668-7696-2783 and it worked great.
9. Click on where you want to install it... you know what to do.
Now, the error shouldn't show anymore.
I don't know about you, but it worked fine for me. I always get these kinds of problems solved.
Sorry for my English, I hope you got the poin. ;)

How to get rid of the "disk error"!
Go To Photoshop > Edit > Preferences > Perfomance
At the "Memory Usage" section, take the slider of "Let Photoshop use..." and slide to the right so photoshop uses 100%
At the Scratch Disk section, select all harddrive and activate the checkboxes! And click OK!
Then restart Photoshop and the problem is fixed.
My photoshop is running perfectly!

I need SERIOUS help. Every time I open photoshop it says, "Could not initialize photoshop because scratch disks are full." or something along those lines.
I've un-installed it and re-installed it, it still says that. Before a while ago it said that, so I uninstalled it and re installed it than it worked but not the un-install re-install method is not working. Any help here?

ok about Error 113 for photoshop. You need to close any other software like aim or msn. Then reinstall photoshop and hopefully you'll be fine...

I am running photoshop CS2 and I am trying to save a file using the "save as", I keep getting an error saying, Could not save as "file name" because of a disk error.
Is there a way to work around and save this file, I don't want to have to quit PS and loose my work.

Dude, I got the scratch disk full error too. I moved the Adobe preferences folder to another partition. When I refired PS8 it opened right up no problem. Edits, saves, everything hunky dory...

Soadria:
• PS starts okay, you edit some photo then go to save a JPEG, and it just hangs, with most of the menus grayed out, no way to even exit. The JPEG settings dialog box is located off screen.
I think I love you.
I didn't have to reset any settings (I just jacked my resolution waaay up for a few minutes) but sure enough, my sudden PS problems with it "locking up" every time I saved a JPG was indeed caused by the dialog box showing up offscreen.
I slid it back over, reset my res, and I'm now back in business. Woo! =D

-I'm having the same problem. It all happened after I opened a .psd file that was sent to me. After the somewhat loading screen, it closes by itself.

Does anyone knows how to repair a corrupted .PSD file? I recovered from a lost HDD partition, but even thought it shows the right extension can't still opened. Photoshop does not recognize as a valid .PSD file
