Resetting Dialogs in Photoshop

You don't have to cancel that dialog to return to normal.

Felix San Jose Jr. from the Philippines, using Photoshop 6 with Mac OS , writes in with:

The Reset button in Photoshop (v6.x and 7.x)

Adobe has built in a little-known feature that lets you reset your changes while keeping the dialog open.

In most dialog boxes with sliders, hold down the Option key (Win: Alt) and the Cancel button changes to a Reset button.

* Click Reset to return your image to the way it was.

I was working with layer masks in CS2 and zipping along just fine. Suddenly the white/black brushes stopped working. The black is only faading the object not removing it and nothing happens with the white. This happened once with the cloning tool also. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
