Kevin from Atlanta, Georgia USA, using Photoshop Elements 3.0 with Windows XP Professional, writes in with:

[Quote:] I can't get the replace color brush to work correctly. I know its me because I am new to this. When I try to take any photo and change the color of part of it, it changes but not to the colors I wanted. I am confused about the contiguous, discontiguous and the continuous, once, and background swatch. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Reply:

See our "Replace Color in Photoshop Elements 3" tutorial. It doesn't sound like you're using the "Replace Color" dialog (Choose: Adjust Color > Replace Color) because contiguous and discontiguous really don't apply.

In the Color Wand and some of the other tools, contiguous and discontiguous are options: contiguous meaning the colors you select will all be touching, or "continuous" and the same colors found elsewhere in the file will not be touched. Discontiguous will mean the selection will select ALL that particular color in the whole file.
