First familiarize yourself with LAYERS.
Now use any combination of layers and layer masks to generate the image you want.
The text will reside on its own layer.

I have a simple idea to merge picture and text. The idea behind is very simple. We will just use Inverse selection with the help of cut + copy + paste command. To know more you can visit my tutorial blog.

How do you use a tile, and create a background?
I want to add a photo to a christmas background - but once I open an Xmas tile, I do not know what to do next.
Thanks.
