Lost scanner contact

Photoshop can't find my scanner!

Alicia from North Carolina USA, using Adobe Photoshop 7.01 with Windows XP, writes in with:

If you're using USB (plug and play) scanners the problem could be a simple as dud leads, faulty ports,or your computer not recognising their presence. Try swapping out the leads and/or plugging them into different USB ports. If that doesn't work, try reinstalling the scanner driver software.
