I have two identical pictures.
One in black and white, the other in color.
I want to take the flowers from the color and place them over the ones in the black and white. Please advise on how to do this task.
I have tried several different ways, all of which are not working for me.
I have taken a basic photoshop class which did not cover this.

Laura,
You can do many different things to get this done. One you can use the lasso tool to select the area around the colored flowers. Once it is selected you can copy and paste it into the other file. To avoid this step open the black and white image and the color and then drag the color onto the bw image. Then continue with the above directions.
Another way is to open the color image. Make a copy of the layer so you now will have two images. On the new layer change the saturation. This will make the image bw. You might need to play with levels to get the contrast back. Then go to eraser tool and begin to erase the parts of the image you want in color.
Hope that helps.
